FIGHT MUSIC PRODUCER MIKEY RUKUS CREATES RELIEF FUND FOR FIGHTERS AFFECTED BY HURRICANE 
Fight music producer Mikey Rukus, has started a hurricane relief effort that is geared specifically towards MMA fighters and their families that have been affected by Hurricane Sandy. In the midst of all of the various fundraisers and benefit activities that are in place, Mike saw an opening that he felt needed to be addressed, seeing this as an opportunity to help give back to an industry that he has worked to solidify his footing as a viable brand there within.
“I know there are millions of people hurting, who are suffering and who need basics. I saw many neighborhoods banning together to help each other, churches tending to their congregations. With the MMA community being seemingly such a tight network, where everyone pretty much knows everyone, I thought there should be no reason why we can’t help each other as well.” Mike explained.
Mikey Rukus is no stranger to hurricane damage himself, as last year’s Hurricane Irene left him and his wife and children with no water or power for 8 days, in triple digit temperatures. The financial impact on his family in the aftermath would put him on a course to where he would eventually lose his home. “I have been there, and I know what its like to live paycheck to paycheck, I’m still there. Some people just don’t have means to set up emergency funds. It’s a horrible, helpless feeling. And if I can so much as just help one family this way, then I know we’re making a difference.”
Rukus has created a tribute song “Begin Again”, which is a concept story of a fighter who is a single father raising his daughter. The song chronicles their peril, the disaster and their survival. Those who donate to the relief efforts will receive a free download of the song as a gift. “I know it’s not much, but I have always believed that music can inspire us even in the darkest of times, so I am doing this as my way of contributing”
