Cage Warriors 51

Dublin, Ireland (December 29, 2012) – THE busiest and most successful year in the 10-year history of Cage Warriors Fighting Championship draws to a close with the organisation’s 12th show of 2012 on New Year’s Eve.

Cage Warriors 51 takes place at The Helix in Dublin on Monday, December 31, marking CWFC’s first show in the Irish capital since June’s hugely successful Cage Warriors 47 at the same venue.

On that occasion Conor McGregor captured the featherweight belt courtesy of victory over Dave Hill. The Dubliner will be aiming to secure another vacant CWFC title on Monday night.

Slovakian star Ivan Buchinger will take on McGregor for the right to be crowned Cage Warriors’ 155lbs champion. If McGregor succeeds, he’ll make history as the first fighter to simultaneously hold two CWFC titles in unified weight classes.

In the co-main event, one of Conor McGregor’s team-mates from the SGB Ireland camp will also be in title-bout action, as Chris Fields fights for the first time since winning the CWFC middleweight strap at the expense of Pavel Kusch at September’s CWFC Fight Night 7 in Jordan.

Fields, who also hails from Dublin, will face former UFC and Strikeforce competitor Jesse Taylor, with the winner poised to see in 2013 at the summit of the 185lbs division.

Weigh-ins take place at Dublin Airport’s Carlton Hotel tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, December 30, at 2pm GMT. For live updates, follow Cage Warriors Fighting Championship on Twitter.
